Billie has been serving birthing families for over 30 years throughout Ontario, Canada and beyond. Currently she is the Director of Education for Childbirth International providing support for over 6800 students in over 120 countries. In addition to editing and authoring continuing education for maternity providers and birth professionals, she teaches both professionals and parents internationally through her work with CBI and in private practice. She is the author of the world's first research-based accredited certification course for becoming a trauma-informed perinatal professional. Billie is the Founder and Director of Birth Trauma Ontario, which serves as a resource for parents and birth professionals to help address the global health crisis of birth trauma and postpartum PTSD.

She has served hundreds of families over the years as a traditional birth companion, a certified birth and postpartum doula, a childbirth educator, a breastfeeding counsellor, a lay pastoral counsellor, and a mentor for families and professionals.

Billie has been blessed with 7 children and some adorable grandchildren. Her passion has always been to support each individual in their own journey towards wholeness and the pursuit of their own life's passions.

Today, where the profession of midwifery and obstetrics has become industry controlled, there are very few voices of the wise women. One of these voices of respect for birth and the birthing woman is that of Billie Harrigan. Over the years, I have come to admire and respect her courage and passion. If you get the opportunity to spend time with her, I highly recommend that you take it.
